9 Spots for Naughty Things

March 5, 2026 by d20domme

Okay so real talk. If you’re anything like Me, I know your toy collection deserves better than being shoved under a pillow every time someone knocks on the door.

Seriously, this one still makes Me cringe-laugh every time I think about it! Years ago I lived with vanilla roommates and I had this absolutely enormous, deeply unambiguous, bright purple double-ended dildo. We’re talking no plausible deniability whatsoever. Not a “oh that could be a back massager” situation. This thing was announcing itself PROUDLY.

I thought I’d been so clever storing it in a tote bag on the top shelf of My closet. Totally casual. Just a bag. Nothing to see here. My roommate’s mother came to visit. Sweet woman. Helpful to a fault. Completely unprompted, out of the goodness of her heart, she waned to “tidy up our house a little” over the week she stayed with us.

Towards the end of her visit I came out of the bathroom one morning in My towel to find her standing in the middle of MY bedroom holding the tote bag open, peering inside with the expression of someone who has just looked directly into the sun.

We made eye contact.

Neither of us said a word.

She set the bag down very carefully, like it was a live animal. Smoothed her shirt. And then said, with incredible composure, “I’ll put the kettle on.”

We had tea. We talked about the weather. We have never, not once in the years since, mentioned it.

And that is why everything I own started to live in a lockbox. A locked lockbox. In a locked room. Possibly underground…or dungeon if you have one like we do now.

We’ve all done the panicked scramble, but we’re leaving that energy in the past. Even though sex toys have never been more mainstream (seriously, I love progress), most of us still want our collection tucked away on our own terms. Don’t be ashamed for wanting privacy. Think of it as self-care and boundaries, babe. Whether you’re cohabitating with roommates, family, a partner, or just a very nosy cat, I want to share some tips on how to store your goodies with intention, including some DIY options that are just fun to put together.

Let’s start with some solid spots to stash your goodies…

The Basic Bitch Hot-Spots

Under the bed. The OG hiding spot, and honestly? Still a classic. Close enough to grab when the mood hits, far enough that your auntie visiting for the holidays won’t accidentally encounter your wand. The key is not just shoving things between the mattress and the frame. That’s a lint trap and a dignity hazard. Get yourself a cute decorative box instead. Bonus points if you drill a small hole in the side for a charging cable. Yes, I’m out here giving our toys five-star accommodations. They deserve it.

The nightstand drawer. This is My personal MVP spot for whatever toy I’m currently obsessed with. Easy in, easy out, no digging around at an inconvenient moment. It also doubles as the perfect lube home and please, please don’t keep lube under your mattress. That’s a leak waiting to ruin your whole situation. Keep it in the drawer, keep it classy.

Your underwear drawer. Nobody is going through your underwear drawer. And if they are, yeah, that’s a whole separate conversation you need to have. This spot is sneaky-safe, and apparently one of the most popular stash spots people use, which honestly makes complete sense. It’s not the most convenient if your bed is your main stage, but for discretion? Top tier. Nestled between your lace and your gym shorts like it was always meant to be there.

Honorable mention: A shoebox in your closet or under the bed reads as completely boring to anyone who doesn’t know better. Throw a sweater on top and it becomes basically invisible.

“Hands-On” Options

If you’ve got an afternoon, a trip to the hardware store, and even a passing interest in making something with your hands, DIY storage is genuinely the move. You get to control the size, the aesthetic, the security level and the end result looks intentional instead of like you panic-shoved something into whatever was nearby. Some I’ve personally enjoyed making or overseeing others make for Me have been…

A customized ottoman or bench at the foot of your bed. This is the one that makes people go why didn’t I think of that. Storage ottomans are everywhere right now, IKEA, Costco, thrift stores and they’re deep enough to hold an entire collection, not just one shy little vibe. Get one with a lift-top lid, line it with a soft fabric or velvet insert (seriously, takes five minutes and protects your silicone toys), and boom: functional bedroom furniture that is secretly your personal pleasure vault. Nobody’s questioning the cute bench at the foot of the bed, but that may compliment your interior design!

Can’t find an ottoman you like? Consider a repurposed vintage suitcase or trunk. A vintage suitcase or small trunk from a thrift store (usually $10–$30) doubles as actual décor. Stack it, use it as a side table, lean it against the wall. Inside? Lined with fabric, fitted with a small combination lock if you want extra security, and absolutely nobody suspects a thing. It’s aesthetically pleasing, deeply functional, and you can customize the interior with dividers made from foam cut to fit. Give your toys a luxury travel case.

A tissue box. Okay, hear Me out…this one is so silly it’s genius. A tissue box on your nightstand looks completely innocuous, and it fits a small toy perfectly. It’s the ultimate “hiding in plain sight” move. Useful for storage and cleanup. Just make sure no one in your house is in the middle of allergy season and reaching for a tissue, or things get awkward fast.

Honorable mention: A wall-mounted lockable cabinet for the more committed DIYers, the kind you’d see in a bathroom or garage with a key lock is a great investment. Mount it inside your closet, behind clothes, or even in a less-trafficked area.

These DIY options can look so good sitting out in your space that guests will actually compliment them, completely unaware they’re admiring your pleasure chest. Which, honestly? Is the most satisfying outcome possible.

Sensually Spoil Yourself

Sometimes the best solution is just throwing money at the problem (if you can) and in this case, I fully support it as someone who has a dedicated dungeon. Think of it less as splurging and more as investing in your peace of mind. If you’re like Me, your collection probably cost more than the box you’re keeping it in, so it deserves a proper home anyway.

A hollowed-out book box ($20-50). Okay this one is so sneaky it’s almost too good. You can buy on Etsy ready-made book boxes (they look like real books from the outside). Slide it onto your bookshelf among your actual books and it becomes completely invisible. Best for one or two smaller toys like a bullet, or a small plug but the discretion level is absolutely unmatched. Bonus: you get to pick a title that makes you smirk every time you walk past it.

A dedicated mini fridge (plugged/unplugged) ($40-80). I know this one sounds unhinged but if you have the space and want maximum “no one will ever look there” energy, a small mini fridge in your closet is pretty untouchable. Put a snack on top for cover and commit to the bit. Over at Wayfair there’s a small makeup fridge that would be perfect for toys! Want to chill your aftercare snacks too? Go for it!

Specialized adult toy storage ($50-500). As your collection grows, proper storage stops being optional and starts being kind of essential. It’s no longer just for keeping things discreet, but for actually taking care of what you’ve invested in. Silicone degrades, toys collect dust, and nothing is sadder than a beloved vibe that’s been rattling around loose in a drawer for six months. There’s affordable storage options like this portable locking toy organizer. But personally, I love good storage like this Luxury Bondage Locking Storage Sade Trunk by UPKO because it keeps everything hygienic, organized, and ready to go when you are. As an owner of several of these I love that they are designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind.

Most importantly…

When organizing your sex toys, there are three important factors to keep in mind:

  1. Keep them clean, please please please. Clean toys are essential for safety. A good storage container can keep dust, airborne pollutants, and contaminants away from your toys. Always make sure they’re clean and dry before you put them away. Explore special UV-sterilizing pouches. Just pop them into a special storage pouch and activate a UV light that kills up to 99.9% of germs. This might be the perfect choice if you’re in a living situation where it’s awkward or inconvenient to take your toys to the sink every time you use them.
  2. Keep them charged for the love of all future orgasms. Keeping toys in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat can extend their battery life, so they’re ready to rock when you need them. For optimal battery life, recharge your device regularly even if not in use, unplug the charging cable from the power supply immediately after charging and fully charge your device before first use. Basically, comply with the safety and maintenance information for your rechargeable toy or you have no one to blame but yourself for user errors.
  3. Store them properly like prized possessions. Toys can be an expensive investment, so you’ll want to keep them in good condition for as long as possible by storing them properly. And remember it you’re storing multiple toys, make sure to put them in their own storage bags so that the materials don’t rub together and degrade over time. You can also look for a storage container with multiple compartments to keep them separate. I like to use silica gel packets or other moisture absorbers in our storage containers to keep the environment dry and protect against humidity.

Although rechargeable sex toys are built to last a long time, they will eventually need to be retired. Due to their chemical composition, it’s important to avoid disposing of these devices in household waste. Instead, take rechargeable sex toys you no longer need to an appropriate collection point for recycling. Don’t be embarrassed to drop them off, you’re helping the planet!

Whatever spot you pick, make sure you follow the the golden rule regardless of where you land: keep everything together. Toys, lube, chargers, cleaner, protection, spare batteries, the whole ecosystem. Because the only thing worse than someone stumbling on your collection is you having to frantically dig for your charger when you’re already in the mood. We’re optimizing for pleasure here, not a scavenger hunt.

At the end of the day, I think how you store your collection says a lot about how much you respect it and yourself. Whether you’re going full DIY with a hand-painted lockbox or just finally committing to a perfectly sized lidded bin under the bed, any step up from “panic-shoved in a drawer” is a win. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here because collections, living situations, and aesthetics are all different but hopefully something in this list clicked for you. And if you’ve got a hiding spot that’s so genius it needs to be shared, please let Me know!
